landscape with an unparalleled fusion of sound and
culture.
Growing up between two worlds and musical influences,
Seba decided to combine both her European and Kurdish roots in her unique sound.
Her signature blend includes Orientalfuturistic electro,
techno, and Acid, expertly weaving the unmistakable
sound of the so called "Oriental" Music into ironclad
techno frameworks.
Seba has played at prestigious and major national and
international festivals and venues such as
Donaufestival, Sonic Territories, Wiener Festwochen,
Impulstanz, Wellenklänge Lunz am See, Popfest,
Lungomare, Unsafe and Sound, Kastel Istanbul, Grelle
Forelle, Praterstrass, Austrian Cultural Forum-New
York, Jupiter Disco- New York and many more,
showcasing her ability to captivate diverse audiences
with her groundbreaking approach to music and
culture.
She also actively fosters the growth of the electronic
music scene in her city Vienna through her own
Eventseries, ORIENT/ATION. Her goal is to showcase the
diverse and multicultural music scene in Vienna, and
embrace a new narrative beyond eurocentristic music
approaches.
Breaking free from binary visions, Seba Kayan ́s Art
embodies a harmonious fusion of Western and Eastern
cultures. Rather than creating divisions, she skillfully
intertwines both worlds.
Through her artistry, Seba Kayan invites audiences to
reconsider the ways in which cultural heritage is
preserved, remembered, and interpreted, ultimately
fostering a deeper understanding of the diverse
narratives that shape our world.
Seba has recently released her first single “Tencere” on
the Viennese Label Belly Dance Service. Meaning „pot“
in Turkish, „Tencere“ is filled with a rich and flavorful
concoction of sounds with dreamy rave sounds filled
with crunchy darbukas, spicy synths and sweet
"oriental" sounds.
The package is completed with a boiling Musicvideo
shot in a Hamam, directed by Nicola von Leffern
showing women reclaiming space. For women from the
Middle East places like Hamam's are sacred and healing
spaces. Spending time together in them is a communal
means of self-care and care for one another. The
Musikvideo is an Act of reclaiming of an orientalized
image in order to address our own bias and
misunderstandings, and to take back space. Tencere
was supported by Artist like Acid Arab, Local Suicide
and many more.
